Community Voluntary Counselling and
Confidentiality Testing Centre (CVCCTC)
Many people with STDs
avoid seeking treatment in government hospitals because they face
discrimination, and miss out on SIAAP's HIV/AIDS/STD counselling
services. In 2004, the first Community Voluntary Counselling and
Confidentiality Testing Centre (CVCCTC) was opened in Alundhur, Tamil
Nadu.
Brings counselling services to

and counselling for community members by community members

Selvi Memorial Illam Society (SMIS)
Caring for HIV/AIDS
patients is costly in that it frequently involves long travel,
food/lodging expenses, and lost wages. This often leads to patients
and their attendants sleeping in the streets, railway stations, and
other unsanitary, unsafe environments.
The SMIS provides an affordable, clean, welcoming place to stay for
PLWHA and their attendants who come to the Government General Hospital
of Thoracic Medicine at Sanitorium, Chennai for treatment. SMIS
provides:
Affordable lodging
and food, Rs. 60/day ($1.33 USD)
HIV/AIDS-related
counselling
10-minute walk from
hospital
Friendly, supportive,
safe environment
Designed for
replication throughout Tamil Nadu and India
Anbukarankal ("Loving Hands") Positive Women's
Support Group
A network of
HIV-positive women in Namakkal, which has one of the highest HIV
sero-positivity rates in Tamil Nadu.

Creating a Positive Living Fund (PLF)
The Positive Living Fund
raises individual contributions to defray the cost of HIV/AIDS
treatment for those who cannot afford it. In 2004, the fund proposes
to support at least 50 positive people and raise Rs. 40 lakhs
($100,000 USD).
